"How long will it feel like burning

Said the child trying to be kind"
And I begged her to grip onto every word I gave
So as to extinguish her flame
But I would be naive to say I’m water
In a world that feels so hot
Rather I’m a tiny ember
Who loves everything they’ve got
How long might one flame burn
I thought to myself that night
If she tries to heat a room of people
Who maintain her in their sight
It seems my own vision is weary
And my legs have come uncrossed
To keep a wealth of warmth in my presence
Because the man I love breathes out layers of frost
How far can fire spread
In just a single day
How far can my love reach
When you’re all so far away
I think it’s best not to care
Or to hurt in any way
